Abstract: Problem statement: The Rotor reactance control by inclusion of external capacitance in the rotor circuit has been in recent research for improving the performances of Wound Rotor Induction Motor (WRIM). The rotor capacitive reactance is adjusted such that for any desired load torque the efficiency of the WRIM is maximized. The rotor external capacitance can be controlled using dynamic capacitor in which the duty ratio is varied for emulating the capacitance value. This study presents a novel technique for tracking maximum efficiency point in the entire operating range of WRIM using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The data for ANN training were obtained on a three phase WRIM with dynamic capacitor control and rotor short circuit at different speed and load torque values. Approach: A novel nueral network model based on back-propagation algorithm has been developed and trained for determining the maximum efficiency of the motor with no prior knowledge of the machine parameters. The input variables to the ANN are stator current (Is), Speed (N) and Torque(Tm) and the output variable is duty ratio (D). Results: The target is set with a goal of 0.00001. The accuracy of the ANN model is measured using Mean Square Error (MSE) and R2 parameters. The result of R2 value of the proposed ANN model is 0.99980. Conclusion: The optimal duty ratio and corresponding optimal rotor capacitance for improving the performances of the motor are predicted for low, medium and full loads by using proposed ANN model.

Key words: Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Wound Rotor Induction Motor (WRIM), Torque(Tm), Digital Signal Processor (DSP), rotor reactance control, corresponding optimal rotor

Essay on Artificial Intelligence : The Origin Of Artificial Intelligence

- Humans have developed a wonderful fascination with artificial intelligence since it first introduced to the world in the 1950’s. The Merriam-Webster defined Artificial Intelligence as “a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation of intelligent behavior in computers.” Another definition is “the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior.” Computer science was cool on its own but to incorporate human intelligence into it sounded like a ground breaking idea. There would be no limit to what humans can do with intelligent machines and computer programming....   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Algorithm]

Artificial Intelligence : The Impact Of Technology And Artificial Intelligence

- Introduction Since the invention of the computer, humans have greatly improved most if not all aspects of life. Today, they look and perform much differently than computers from the past couple decades. This change constituted an exponential improvement in raw performance. They are produced in many different forms as well, with some being able to fit comfortably in your pocket and others filling an entire room. The processing power of these computers is so great that they can run through millions of data in seconds....   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Machine learning]

Artificial Neural Networks Report Essay

- ... And gave guidelines about how to choose a learning rate. If we choose a learning rate that is too large, it may moves too far in the “correct” direction, resulting in overshooting or minimum in the error surface, it takes longer to train, which effect the accuracy (will be poor in that case).By decreasing the learning rate, the training speed and accuracy will be improved, but if we use a too small learning rate it is a waste of time and computational resources. Their approach is explained as following steps: Step1.Train the neural network for one epoch using different orders magnitude of learning rates (e.g., 100 down to .00001) , So we can find a learning rate L with the smallest tota...   [tags: artificial intelligence]

Essay On Artificial Intelligence

- Prepare yourself for the future with Artificial Intelligence When we hear the word Artificial Intelligence (AI), we are used up thinking of “human-like” or “general” intelligence. The centuries-long hunt to develop machines and software with human-like intelligence, inches closer to reality. Scientists develop intelligent machines that can simulate reasoning, develop knowledge and allow computers to set and achieve goals, moving closer to mimicking the human thought process. These intelligent systems improve the accuracy of predictions, accelerate problem-solving and automate administrative tasks bringing in an era of automation....   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Artificial neural network]

Artificial Intelligence And Human Intelligence Essay

- Artificial Intelligence “is the ability of a human-made machine to emulate or simulate human methods for the deductive and inductive acquisition and application of knowledge and reason” (Bock, 182). The early years of artificial intelligence were seen through robots as they exemplified the advances and potential, while today AI has been integrated society through technology. The beginning of the thought of artificial intelligence happened concurrently with the rise of computers and the dotcom boom....   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Computer]

Artificial Intelligence: Can Computers Think? Essay

- This essay will address the question of whether computers can think, possess intelligence or mental states. It will proceed from two angles. Firstly it is required to define what constitutes “thinking.” An investigation into this debate however demonstrate that the very definition of thought is contested ground. Secondly, it is required for a reflection on what form artificial intelligence should take, be it a notion of “simulated intelligence,” the weak AI hypothesis, or “actual thinking,” the strong AI hypothesis....   [tags: artificial intelligence]

Essay On Artificial Intelligence

- Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an electronic mind. Movies have portrayed the vision of a computerized entity, most of which had devious intentions towards the human race. These have really no basis in reality when it comes to examples of artificial intelligence. Many devices, things previously viewed as examples of artificial intelligence, are now viewed as little more than universal advances in technology. Even the system that checks for spelling errors on emails and text messages is a simple form of AI....   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Robotics]

Artificial Intelligence Essay

- Artificial intelligence has expanded drastically over the last few years. In healthcare it is especially important since it can assist with patient care and treatment. Artificial intelligence is exactly as it sounds; it is a machine, like a computer, that goes beyond those parallels taking a step further by thinking and predicting what its user would do next. In their paper, Advances in artificial intelligence research in health, Khanna, Sattar and Hansen describe artificial intelligence and its capabilities as “focused on traits of reasoning, knowledge representation, planning, learning, communication, perception and social intelligence, AI has been widely applied to augment the state of th...   [tags: Artificial intelligence, Artificial neural network]

Artificial Intelligence Essay

- There are benefits and risks that AI offers to society. Artificial intelligence aims to create machines that can think rationally for themselves. It will learn how to act like human beings and interact with others in the real world. Researchers are normally entitled to teach AI machines on becoming self-sufficient in getting a job done. As AI systems are continuously updated, they develop great potential in dealing with problems and making a good decision by considering all the alternatives. - An Overview of Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence, a concept that would make possible our most remote dreams, specially for housewives.
