Compare and contrast of “The Tell Tale Heart” and “The Black Cat”
The two short stories of “The Tell Tale Heart” and “The Black cat” by renowned author Edgar Allen Poe exemplifies the darkness of what a person can succumb to in certain situations. Both of these marvels share important realizations of thought and subconscious guilt’s. These short stories are used as an example of how two different people in two different situations can have the same reaction in the way of killing someone without remorse. Anger and hatred are major factors in simultaneous tells. The topic for this discussion is to discuss the similarities and differences of these two short stories by Edgar Allen Poe. Could there be more to what actually happens? Do both characters of these stories experience real supernatural events which cause them to lose it or is it a mental reaction which causes the mind to do things that are not real.
Whether it is a coincidence that both stories share similar themes is solely known by the articulate person of Edgar Allen Poe, but as an interpretation that both of these tales have been written to express the true darkness humanity shares. How a man can engage in such evil acts by the sole reaction of the human reflex. The short stories of “The Tale Tell Heart” and “The Black Cat” share many similarities with each other but they are also very different in many ways. One similarity which both accomplish is the themes they represent of murder and the belief in supernatural events caused by their own insanity. In “The Tell Tale Heart” “Poe 's confessional tale features a psychologically ill protagonist who recalls his grisly murder of an old man” (Zimmerman 342) as mentioned is exactly that as it is about a man who felt justified...

... the whole experience as in The black cat the protsgonist did everything as an inpulse. In tale tell the character cuts the body into pieces and in the black cat he doesn’t. he just hides the wife in the wall. In tale tele he hears thinks he hears loud heart beats coming from the floor which were actually just an illusioned caused by his madness. In the black cat the main character hears a niose from the wall where his wifes body is stored but it wasn’t imaginary for it was the cat that he forgot he buried in the wall with his wifes corpse. The character from tell tale did not show signs of being under the influence as in the black cat the charcter did specifically talk about how he was drunk. The murders took place at different times. Tal tele was during the night and black cat was during the day? The tale tele guy confessed out of craziness and black cat was caught
