Wind energy is gaining popularity throughout the world. Due to growing importance of wind energy, the rapid development of wind energy technology has a large involvement of people and institutions. Wind power is increasingly being viewed as the mainstream of electric power supply due to: zero emission of harmful gases ,significantly economically exploitable resource potential , no cost uncertainties from fuel supply price fluctuations, modular and rapid installation opportunities for industrial rural and economic development, which majorly constitute its benefits.
What is wind power?
Wind mills are the predecessors of wind turbines that generate electricity. From farms in the Europe to United States wind mills were used for pumping water for agriculture and cattle. Now, it is turning turbines to power our homes and cities. Today’s wind turbines are very much different from old wind mills; however they run on the same principle of capturing wind energy. They exploit wind’s kinetic energy and convert it into electricity.

Wind energy has become a vital and serious component of the utility industry. With its reduced cost of generation and technological advances wind energy is being heeded out by every utility company and also with the increasing awareness of sustainable living. The main cause behind the decline of wind energy cost is the maturity of wind technology over past few years. Most of this area including northwest part of Texas has a massive synchronous electrical grid that serves approximately two thirds of US population, with an installed capacity of nearly 1000GW.
